HBPB SWIMMING BOARD

The Hawke’s Bay Poverty Bay (HBPB) Swimming Board governs swimming in our region and acts as the official link to Swimming New Zealand. Board members are elected to represent the region and typically serve a three-year term. Their work ensures swimming in Hawke’s Bay Poverty Bay is safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.

The Board is responsible for guiding the region’s development through the Strategic Plan and Annual Plan, ensuring that initiatives, events, and programs align with long-term goals and the needs of clubs and swimmers.

Meet Our Board Members

  • Keith Bone – Board Chair | Term Expires 2027 Keith leads the Board, providing strategic direction and supporting clubs across the region. With a focus on growth and community engagement, he ensures the Board represents all swimmers fairly.

  • Karen Busch – Vice Chair | Term Expires 2026 Karen supports the Chair and along with the rest of the Board oversees regional initiatives., encouraging participation at all levels.

  • Trudie Nettle – Member Protection Officer | t.mnettle@xtra.co.nz | Term Expires 2026 In additional to her role as a general Board member, Trudie ensures the wellbeing and safety of all members. She is the first point of contact for any member protection matters and helps maintain a safe and inclusive swimming environment. 

  • David Kamper – Board Member | Term Expires 2027

  • Ria Botes – Board Member | Term Expires 2028

  • Amanda McEntee – Board Member | Term Expires 2028 David, Ria, and Amanda work with the whole Board to support club initiatives, regional events, and the development of swimmers - assisting in implementing the Strategic Plan and Annual Plan and ensuring the Board’s goals are achieved and that the region continues to thrive.

Our Board works collaboratively to grow swimming in the region, support clubs, and ensure every swimmer enjoys a safe, rewarding, and fun experience, while keeping the region’s long-term vision at the forefront.

HBPB Swimming is proud to recognize individuals who have made an extraordinary and lasting contribution to our sport.

Life Membership is the highest honour our region can bestow. It acknowledges exceptional service, dedication, and commitment over many years — a true mark of distinction within the swimming community.

The following individuals have been awarded Life Membership of HBPB Swimming in recognition of their outstanding service to the organisation. Their dedication, passion, and tireless efforts have had a profound and lasting impact on swimming in the Hawke’s Bay Poverty Bay region. The region is deeply grateful for their contribution, both past and present, and their legacy continues to inspire swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and officials alike.
