MASTERS SWIMMING

MASTERS SWIMMING

Masters Swimming – Swim for Life

Masters Swimming is all about staying active, improving fitness, and enjoying the social and competitive aspects of swimming at any age. Across our region, many of our seven clubs have Masters squads, offering welcoming and supportive groups for adults of all abilities — whether you’re returning to swimming after a break, maintaining your fitness, or aiming to challenge yourself in competition.

Training and Community

Masters squads provide structured training sessions tailored for adult swimmers, combining technique, endurance, and strength work. But it’s not just about training — being part of a Masters squad is a fantastic way to meet like‑minded people, share your swimming journey, and be part of a friendly, encouraging team environment.

Competitive Opportunities

We’re excited to expand Masters swimming in our region. Currently, Masters swimmers can compete in interclub meets, and we are working towards introducing more Masters events at regional championships. These events give swimmers the chance to test themselves, set personal goals, and enjoy the thrill of racing in a supportive atmosphere.

National Pathway

For those who want to take their swimming further, Swimming New Zealand, in partnership with NZ Masters, delivers the annual New Zealand Masters Swimming Championships. This event celebrates Masters swimming nationwide and provides a goal for swimmers to compete against peers from across the country.
